Young Entrepreneurs in Science (YES)
How much startup is in your PhD?
GSO is a partner of the BMBF-funded initiative “Young Entrepreneurs in Science” (YES) of the Falling Walls Foundation gGmbH Berlin. This program empowers master’s students, doctoral candidates, and postdocs of all disciplines at German universities and research institutions to playfully explore their entrepreneurial potential via interactive online and offline workshops.
The project aims to foster a cultural shift towards increased decisiveness and entrepreneurial ambition among master’s students, doctoral candidates, and postdocs, ultimately making an impact on academia as a whole.

From PhD to Innovator
Participants are encouraged to uncover and develop their skills using creative learning methods such as Design Thinking. Young Entrepreneurs in Science believe that:
Many of the competencies required to complete a research project — perseverance, problem-solving, and working passionately on one topic—align closely with the skills of successful entrepreneurs.
